Natural science centre at the school centre, Glinde
At the Glinde school centre, the conversion and expansion of the natural sciences was driven forward in order to create modern, digital learning spaces for the STEM subjects. The aim was to reinterpret the teaching of science and offer pupils an innovative learning environment.

Pedagogical architecture as a result of the collaborative process of all those involved
The remodelling and redesign were the result of a collaborative process. Teachers and students from both schools, the building administration and the architectural firm rimpf Architektur & Generalplanung worked together on the educational concept. The result is an educational space design that meets the requirements of modern, digital knowledge transfer.
MakerSpace expands the natural sciences
An essential part of the remodelling is the new ‘MakerSpace’, an open experimentation and creative zone for learners and teachers. Here, pupils can experiment in small groups with supervision and deepen their scientific knowledge. The MakerSpace encourages students’ curiosity and enables them to expand their knowledge through their own experiments.
Conversion of the school centre while teaching continues
The town of Glinde invested 3.9 million euros in the conversion, digitalisation and refurbishment of the STEM subjects. Additional specialist rooms for biology and chemistry were created on 1,600 m². During the almost one-year conversion, the old structure, including the steps and frontal classrooms, had to be completely adapted and modernised. All rooms were refurnished and the building services and digital infrastructure were completely modernised.
